‘I want to look at the plaza element as a contemporary midden. A contemporary slice of ground that holds all the stories of the past, present and future. By doing this we are making a statement about reclaiming what has largely been built over and erased from the Sydney landscape.
I want to use the faces and facets of the plaza element almost like layers of earth that hold interpretations of the history of the Rocks. This can be seen through abstracted layers and textures but also in some instances as recognisable images or even language words. Using 25% of the plaza elements facets, allows for the artwork to be a layered, abstracted form allowing people to discover things as they move around it.’
