Cambridge Courtyard

It is clear why the shoreline to ridge west of Circular Quay, Warrane, is called The Rocks. For centuries life has lived on its outcrops and jagged terrain. Since colonisation, pedestrian ant tracks have wound up the hill opening to platforms created by street intersections. This points offer places of gathering, perched on the stairs and rock cuttings. Following 20th century erasure of many laneways and stairs, this scheme seeks to restore and extend original pathways, linking pedestrian flow to places for life to return.
