111 Castlereagh officially opened

fjcstudio is pleased to mark the official opening of 111 Castlereagh, a revisioning of the heritage-listed David Jones Men’s store at the corner of Market and Castlereagh Streets, Sydney. Earlier this week, cbusproperty celebrated the opening with The Right Honourable Clover Moore AO, Lord Mayor of Sydney, alongside the partners who have shaped the building over almost a decade.

Working across architecture, interiors and landscape, the brief asked us to reimagine one of Sydney’s most recognised buildings as a mixed-use destination, integrating contemporary residences with creative workspaces and a luxury retail precinct delivered with Scentre Group as part of the broader 111 & 121 Castlereagh precinct. The ambition was not simply to add to what existed, but to create something genuinely integrated, where new and old reinforce rather than compete with each other. With extraordinary attention to detail, craft and materials that connect both history and future, nature and city, the architecture of 111 Castlereagh is bold and yet timeless.
