The Korumburra Community Hub is a multi-purpose community facility in the historic regional Victorian town of Korumburra, completed in late 2023.
Set on a steep and challenging site, the design works with the natural topography, with two distinct entries, upper and lower, giving easy access and a clear separation of functions. Mature trees were carefully retained and are framed by well-placed windows that capture views of the surrounding landscape. On the approach to the township, the building rises gently above the streetscape, bringing contemporary design together with Korumburra’s heritage character.
Designed for a diverse and growing community, including young families and long-time residents from surrounding farming areas, the hub supports community gatherings, youth programs, fitness sessions and cooking classes, alongside its library.
Sustainability was a key focus, with passive design strategies, solar panels, rainwater tanks, water-sensitive urban design and locally sourced materials.
We are proud to have worked with 3 Acres Landscape Architects, Hive Structural Engineers, South Gippsland Shire Council, 2CONSTRUCT and a range of service consultants and stakeholders. Read more about Korumburra Community Hub and our libraries.
