As we try to come to terms with the ethical and environmental issues of our time there is an urgency in our struggle to understand the nature and limits of consciousness. Is consciousness restricted to human life, or does it extend into the life and world around us?

Could architecture be a form of extended consciousness or is it merely the consequence of the architect’s will?
