Lifted above the past

111 Castlereagh has just under 100 apartments above the heritage-listed former David Jones art deco building in the Sydney CBD. The interiors respond to the building’s architecture and its elevated position, with views across the city, Hyde Park and Sydney Harbour.

The journey home

The interior design covers the whole journey, from the lobby and corridors to arrival in each residence. Living rooms and bedrooms are spacious, with floor-to-ceiling glazing that brings natural light deep into the plan and frames the views.

Stone, timber and light

The building’s curved form carries through to the interiors. Curved glazed façades, sculpted stone and natural timber shape the apartments and shared spaces, pairing traditional materials with contemporary forms. Tonal timber veneers, natural stone and handmade reflective tiles create a calm, refined setting, with every detail resolved with precision and care.

Gathered around stone

In the kitchen, timber veneer joinery with a deep contrasting reveal at the back bench gives a muted, textural backdrop to the island bench. Clad in natural stone and curved to echo the building, the island is the heart of the home.

Quiet rituals

Master en-suites have carved, curved forms in a choice of light Arabescato marble or deep Black Forest granite, with soft lighting and handmade shimmering tiles. Large stone vanities pair with bespoke tapware that echoes the building’s organic shape, including a Sydney Bronze finish developed exclusively for 111 Castlereagh.

Room to gather

The same approach extends to the residents’ lounge and private dining room, which open onto a terrace overlooking Hyde Park, with room to host family and friends.
