Women, Design, Equity

How can architecture and design overcome the gendered structures, inequities, and exclusions that are deeply embedded in the built environment?

How can feminist approaches to design support women’s wellbeing, safety, and agency?

In what ways can architecture and design create culturally safe, healing environments and support services for women experiencing trauma and domestic violence?

Dr Ses Salmond is the Manager of Australia’s first women’s health centre, established in 1974 under the Whitlam Government. Ses will present the vision of the Centre and its partnership with fjcstudio.

Ses will draw on her extensive experience in women’s health, community-led practice, and advocacy to explore how feminist perspectives can support inclusive and sensitive design outcomes.
